And the wiener is - The British Sausage Awards 2016
Now in its 19th year British Sausage Week goes from strength to strength celebrating all that is great about the, not so humble and rather extravagant, British banger. Following a nationwide competition that received over 700 entries from across the land, awards were granted for the best sausages in retailers, independent butchers/farm shops and catering establishments.
The awards not only pay homage to sausages but celebrate the farmers, retailers, suppliers and pork industry who are involved in the crafting of these sizzling delights. Indeed, it is love at first bite for the nation as it is estimated that each day 3.5 million meals where sausages are an ingredient are eaten equating to a staggering 1.26 billion meals a year!
Submissions range from the more traditional pork sausage to incredible taste creations containing chip shop curry sauce, blueberries and even maple syrup. These varied and creative awards celebrate and reward those individuals for their culinary delights that push the boundary of what a sausage can be. Innovation, passion and excellent ingredients were the inspiration for the bespoke resin award that was specially commissioned for the British Sausage Awards 2016.
Creative Awards London produced a specialist bespoke resin award finished in gold, silver and bronze to commemorate this tasty event. The sausage character is a fun and modern nod towards the industry with gold, silver and bronze adding a classic air of ceremony.
