Make Your Mark 2016 Awards with the Assay Office November 04, 2016 09:30

We are proud to announce our partnership as award suppliers to The Assay Office’s leading event for precious metals students, the Make Your Mark Awards 2016. The awards are a competition for students working in the industry and celebrate design, creativity and tradition - three core components from which we we drew to design the award.

A two-day event accompanies the ceremony and brings together leading figures within the industry as well as keynote speeches, educational workshops and live demos. The awards represent an opportunity to educate students as to the importance of hallmarking, to find imaginative uses of hallmarks for jewellers and designers and to push the students artistically and creatively.

With over 40 years of experience within the bespoke awards industry, and as one of the most established bespoke award companies, we understand the importance of exceptional design and producing a body of work with the ‘wow’ factor. Based in Hatton Garden, we have many professional and personal ties to the jewellery industry with our highly skilled craftsman coming from a jewellery background.

To celebrate the 700-year-old silversmithing tradition, our concept for the award started with the idea of fusing modernity and tradition, paying homage to an integral institution within the jewellery industry. The bespoke award encapsulates the grandeur of ceremony in an understated and clean manner. The soft lines of the slender obelisk and minimalist curves are a nod towards the centuries old techniques and craftsmanship of the hallmarking tradition.  The custom award made from gold-anodised aluminium is crowned with the London Hallmark of a leopard. The brushed gold colour symbolises The Goldsmith’s Company and the permanence of precious metals.

The Make Your Mark Award is close to our heart and we are delighted to have worked with an institution that fosters creativity and design within a key, ancient industry in the UK.
