World Book Day 2019

Welcome back to the Creative Awards London blog where we bring you the very best in our bespoke awards and trophies from the UK’s oldest established awards maker. Today marks World Book Day 2019 -  a day that brings avid readers from across the World together and we celebrate with our book themed awards.

Being based in central London we are often commuting long distances into work. Aside from the occasion unwanted face in an armpit, the gentle crush of an over packed tube or even the unwanted delay  going on the tube isn’t something we look forward to. Enter our reading club. Our staff are voracious readers, an all consuming army devouring books left right and centre, not just to ease the burden of the tube but, well, we like to read. To celebrate world book day we bring you two of our bookish awards.

For Fact's Sake

bespoke awardsThey say that reading is a great way to expand your knowledge and what better way to prove your intelligence than with a game of intellectual one-upmanship? The fact’s sake award is the perfect trophy for those brain boxes out there who love a good, hard fact. Commissioned by the BBC show of the same name, the diamante crusted award proudly features a stack of books with a gold brain on top. Don’t worry, no brains were hurt during filming.

Monk Statue

resin monk awardBlessed are the bookkeepers in this cast resin award. Yes we know that bookkeeping and book reading are two distinct things but we wanted to show this award of once again because it is so good. A hand-sculpted model was produced for the master copy of the monk statue before a specially constructed multi-part mould was created. The mould was filled with resin to create the individual statues to be used in the award. We felt it important to combine traditional techniques as a nod to the ancient industry. Resin casting also allows for a great amount of detail to be captured, allowing for an organic and natural finish to the award.

How are you celebrating World Book Day 2019? If you're anything like ourselves you'll be fishing out a copy what you're reading on the tube and be transported to another world.
