Blessed are the bookkeepers
Welcome back to the Creative Awards London blog where we bring you the very latest in our custom made awards and more from our London workshop. In today's blog post we offer you an exclusive behind the scenes insight into the production of one of our most recent awards the Resin Monk Awards.
Our resin awards are some of the best in the business and we took our Creative Awards London know how and created some magnificent monks for a major bookkeeping association. Why did we choose a monk as the design of the award? Well, if you don't know the inventor of accounting as we know it can be traced to a Florentine friar named Luca Paicoli. The Italian mathematician was a close friend to and collaborator with Leonardo Da Vinci and is known as the 'Father of Accounting and Bookkeeping'. The first person in Europe to publish a work on the double-entry system of book-keeping, his magnum opus revolutionised accounting and bookkeeping across the World.
A hand-sculpted model was produced for the master copy of the monk statue before a specially constructed multi-part mould was created. The mould was filled with resin to create the individual statues to be used in the award. We felt it important to combine traditional techniques as a nod to the ancient industry. Resin casting also allows for a great amount of detail to be captured, allowing for an organic and natural finish to the award.
Once the individual monks had been created, a thin layer of bronze finish was applied by hand to create a rustic yet celebratory finish to the design. To finish the magnificent monks, a custom rounded base was created from a deep rich, FSC-approved piece of wood to compliment the gold colour of the award.
The result? An army of magnificent monks ready to celebrate the successes of the very best accountants and bookkeepers around. For more information on our awards, contact our teams via firstname.lastname@example.org or call 020 8159 2748 for a quotation or to discuss any ideas that you may have.
