Music Awards February 27, 2017 12:52
Creative Awards have been the go-to award manufacturers for the UK's biggest brands and music events for the past 40 years. During this time our experience, expertise and skill have evolved to produce unique awards that capture the essence and personality of the ceremony. This week we are celebrating our music themed awards and in our latest blog we will highlight some of the well known awards that we have produced.
Think of some the UK's biggest bands and more often than not the otherworldly melodies and revolutionary sounds of Radiohead come to mind. 12 million record sales and with no signs of slowing down, Radiohead seemingly stand between experimental, genre pushing music and classic sounds. Created by artist Stanley Donwood and manufactured in house, the Radiohead award was commissioned by the band to thank members of their tour crew. The abstract sculpture finished in gold was hand cast and offers staggering detail - a nod towards Thom Yorke's detailed, subtle and textured music.
As the bard famously said "If music be the food of love, play on," and we most certainly have been playing on. Kicking off the music awards week is the infamous NME Award. Designed and produced in-house at Creative Awards, the award has gained as much notoriety as the award ceremony themselves. The eye-catching middle finger is the original anti-award, a throwback to when punks were more than leather jackets and eyeliner. The award captures the spirit of youth and the fearlessness of cutting edge art. Famous recipients include Donald Trump, Skepta, Beyoncé, Radiohead and Adele.
On August 1, 1981, at 12:01 am, MTV launched with the words "Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll," spoken by John Lack, and played over footage of the launch of Apollo 11. The world of music and media have never been the same since. Spawning countless imitations MTV have become a household name and pioneered the way in how music and media are consumed. Drawing inspiration from the iconic logo, the MTV Awards feature an array of superstars printed in high quality graphics on the body of the award with polished gold and silver Ts and Vs. Famous recipients include... well, pretty much everyone!
Since 1990, the Q Awards have become renowned for championing and recognising the very best music in the UK. Taking place in illustrious venues such as Abbey Road Studios to the Park Lane ballroom, the Q Awards are famous for rewarding achievements within music and not just the year. The bespoke award places the brand at the heart with the 'Q' creating the body of the award. The polished metal award is elegantly placed on a rounded base and has been held, cherished and resides with winners such as The Artful Dodger, U2, Muse, Green Day and Amy Winehouse.
The Irish Country Music awards may not be the most well known but certainly are one of the biggest within their industry. Celebrating the very best of Irish country music, the annual awards bring together the biggest stars within the world of Irish country music. The award itself, much like the event, is something truely unique. Precision cut aluminium in the shape of a guitar headstock with a stunning gold finish captures the heritage and legacy of the industry.
