Sporting Awards Week

Sporting Awards Week

Welcome back to the Creative Award London blog. This week we are launching our sporting awards week where we will focus on some of our most recognisable and popular sporting awards for some of the biggest clubs and associations in the U.K.

To kick off sporting awards week (pun intended) we are starting with the West Ham United Lifetime Achievement Award. The award, first commissioned in the 2012/2013 season, honours former players' contributions to the club. Custom made from acrylic and metal, the award features the iconic club crest and two crossed hammers (a nod towards the club's original iteration as the Thames Ironworks). Famous winners include Billy Bonds, Sir Trevor Brooking and, of course, the most famous of all West Ham players, Bobby Moore. Watch Sir Trevor Brooking collect his award.

Continuing on with our football theme (it is the biggest and most popular sport in the world after all) is our range of Player and Manager of the Month awards. Commissioned by the Premier League and the Football League, the awards are handed out each month to the stand-out manager and player of that month. Each award is custom-made and designed capturing the passion and spirit of the respective leagues. Famous recipients include Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger and the tinker man himself, Claudio Ranieri. Sir Alex Ferguson is the manager who has received the award the mos,t with 27 wins, Arsene Wenger is in second place with 15 and David Moyes third place with 10. View the complete list here

On your marks, get set, go! Our third entry is the specially commissioned award for England Athletics. The awards honour individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to athletics and categories include:

  • Club of the Year
  • Participation Project of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Official of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Run England Group / Leader of the Year

The awards are made from precision-cut acrylic and feature the proud logo of the organisation in high resolution print.

Are you more of a scrum half or a fly half? The Rugby League Golden Boot Awards first started in 1985 and have been won by some of the biggest (quite literally) players in the world. The bespoke boot is created using advanced resin casting techniques that capture the detailing and organic feel of a well worn rugby boot. Australia have historically dominated the awards with 18 winners followed up by England and New Zealand with 4 wins respectively.

Rounding off our sporting awards week is the Flying Wickets Award. The second most popular sport in the world, cricket is played by an estimated 2.2 billion players and enjoyed by 2-3 billion fans globally. The custom made award features flying bales and wickets being struck by a well targeted bowl. Commissioned by one of the biggest energy drink makers, the award was part of a promotion that rewarded retailers and stockists of the energy giving beverage.
